Saturdays by CheVelle

Goodness me! It has been a very long time since I last posted anything.
But here I am and I hope to continue posting frequently.

Here is a song I discovered through Flyleaf (which is my favourite band). They covered CheVelle's 'The Red' in their benefit concert (May 2012) for their deceased friend and soundman Rich Caldwell. As expected, I really liked the song, but the video I watched was one taken by a fan in the audience, and therefore wasn't of the best quality. Moreover, it was harder than usual to understand Lacey because she was allegedly crying throughout the concert (which can be verified by most the videos taken), making her voice a little hoarse. So I decided to check the band out, for a better version of the song. And boy did I find a new favourite--
'The Red'- Great song.
'Saturdays'- REALLY GREAT SONG!

Honestly, Chevelle is definitely one those lesser known bands with immense talent and skill. Their music is amazing and I know that I'm going to be spending a lot more time discovering more music of this band.

Please comment on what you think about this band!

Anthems for a 17 Year Old Girl by The Broken Social Scene

This song, when I first listened to it (distractedly) on Youtube, I didn't like very much. But the second time I listened to it, I heard it for its words and immediately fell in love with it. I hadn't liked the song at first because of the vocal quality and texture (but now that's one of my favourite things about the song). It seems like she's singing underwater, or from a different plane of existence, which is interesting, as I assume the younger girl is the one who's singing this, and she seems to be drowning. She's drowning and the new 'look' and manner of conduct of this 17 year old girl is taking over, and the younger girl is aware of it.

I'm 17, so I feel like I completely understand what is being said in this song.
It is like a younger girl is observing her 17 year old self and is just putting into words what she sees happening. It is so blatent that, it seems like the young girl doesn't understand it and wants her 17 year old self to turn back to her younger self-- which is the way I feel now. The Broken Social Scene, however, reckons that the 17 year old girl is "not coming back" from the path she's on in her life.

I don't know how many people would like this song. But I find it very personal and very relaxing. Please take a listen and comment on how you respond to it. Thanks :)

Tonight by Sam[antha] Ronson & Jimmy Messer

There are many things I liked about Samantha Ronson without actually knowing much about her. I like her style, I liked the fact that she's an open lesbian, I like the fact that she's Mark Ronson's sister, I like the fact that her twin sister is a designer for JC Penney (and I quite like JC Penney), I like the fact that she's a very popular female DJ... But I guess that was all that I knew until I came about Rhymefest and Sam Ronson's Wanted (Half Nelson OST). Then, I learned that she is also a singer. I had a browse around and came to this song that I really! like.

Wanted by Rhymefest and Sam Ronson (GREAT SONG for a GREAT MOVIE, by the way!!):

Tonight by Sam Ronson and Jimmy Messer
Here's the deal: The lyrics are the most conventionally over-used lines in the mainstream music industry and the rhythm/melody and all aren't remotely distinct or great. I can't even say that her frank, "Tonight I'm fuckin' you," is surprisingly fresh, because, well, it isn't. What I do like about this song is simply Sam Ronson's vulnerability. Her voice is coarse yet fragile. And it's acoustic, so that's my scene right now.

Take a listen and tell me what you think:

Living Proof by Eminem and Royce da 5'9" (Bad Meets Evil b-sides?) LEAKED

I first discovered this song around a year ago. I am a Die-Hard Eminem fan (not hard-core, DIE-HARD) and so, I try to get every song of his in existence. For some reason, I only started to REALLY listen this one, a few months ago; I might have forgotten about it before (I don't know how).

This is an officially released Bad Meets Evil track that is available in Hell: The Sequel Limited Edition//Deluxe Edition's bonus tracks alongside Echo, another GREAT song!

Looking at the title, I naturally thought that this was a song tribute to Proof, but it isn't.
It's more of a Royce song, talking about how Eminem helped him up. It could be called the equivalent to Eminem and Dre's I Need a Doctor, but Bad-Meets-Evil-ized. There's no REAL hedonistic insanity to this song, just pure energy and a tale of Royce's journey back into mainstream music (he even specifically acknowledges his appearance with Jay-Z and Eminem in the Detroit Football stadium really boosting his popularity).

I've never heard Eminem so amped up. Ever. I've heard practically every Eminem song released and he's never seemed so lost in his rhymes. He shouts (literally) out the last word of his stanzas. You can't listen to this song sitting still unless you're paralyzed. The beat is contagious. Eminem's energy amps the listener up. I think this is the song I'll turn to, whenever I feel exhausted.

"I have no desire stopping, so why would I drop and roll? That's how much on fire, I am!"-Eminem
"It's pretty safe to say, God giveth and God taketh away."

Say what you want to say in the comment box.
And enjoy.
[And yes, I wrote this in American English.]

"I Miss You, Love" by Maria Mena and "I'm Sorry."

The first song I heard of Maria Mena was All This Time, in which she empowers a "self-destructive little girl" by telling her that all long she’s had it in her (still not clear on what, though; I think she might have it in her to love herself and to become a successful “pop-song” writer) but all she needs is a push. Thinking that it might be autobiographical, this immediately attracted me to her—even back in the day, I had a greater respect for emotive lyricists than just singers singing others’ words.

Her voice is soft, subtle but effective. Her accent is clear and cool and has a fragile crystal-like quality to it. She sings very softly but tunefully. The intricacies of her voice in her music are not necessary, but add a greater dimension to her music—without which, she wouldn’t still be on my I-Pod.
She has many great songs, but two which stand out and apart from the rest are these:
"I Miss You, Love":
Another great song is "I'm Sorry":

So, I hope you enjoy the music and I'm sorry for not posting for a long time.
She seems to be much better known than most of the other artist I target and she isn't someone I've discovered recently. But since she's Norwegian and all, and not yet mainstream, I thought that I might add her to my list of music you've GOT to listen to. :D
I'll post more often now that I'm almost done with school!

Wax and Wire by Loch Lomond

It turns out that Loch Lomond is a place in Scotland and information about this band is quite difficult to find.
So I went to the place with all the (mostly incorrect?) answers- WIKIPEDIA. There, it turns out that Loch Lomond is a band based in Portland Oregon. They call their music "Experimental/Folk/Pop" on their Myspace page. As this is all that I managed to find, it's needless to say, they must be very underrated and  unknown. So, the picture above is of the band that created this Beautiful (with a captial B) music:

Please comment and tell me what you think of this music, blog, etc! And Enjoy!

Sleepless by Chase & Status ft. Maverick Sabre

This is a great song by Chase & Status featuring Maverick Sabre (and this was the first time I had ever listened to either artist). I really liked it a few months ago and just realised that it wasn't as famous as I thought it was... so, please take a listen. It has got a very Step Up 2-like feel.
It is called "Sleepless" but people may know of it as "Warrior" or "Fire in Your Eyes" as well.

Dylan Wood Review

I really shouldn’t be the one writing about Dylan Wood because I’m a fool who’s so in love with his music that I have a developed a crush [on him] *blush, blush*. Needless to say, my opinion on his drum covers will be biased. But as he has only released a handful of covers, I will attempt to critique each one as harshly as I can! Wow, this is going to be hard... Here we go:
Here’s a brief introduction to Dylan Wood:
Dylan Wood is an 19 year old drummer who resides in Pennsylvania, USA. He is “a proud drummer for Atlantic Records, and happy as hell to be endorsed by Sabian cymbals and Silverfox drumsticks.” He is also extremely attracti—oh! Ok, I’ll stop. :/ He got signed to Atlantic Records at the tender age of 17 and was chosen to be the drummer of the rock band Emphatic. And, if I'm not wrong, he is even the drummer in his brother's band, Call to Attraction (whom play some pretty good rock, alternative music), on occasion.
He usually plays along to Skrillex remixes of mostly rock music, although he has done a cover of Wiz Khalifa’s Black and Yellow liked Katy Perry on his Facebook fanpage. Hmm. Anyway, not only do his rhythmic additions elevate already GREAT music to GREATER levels that very few can manage in their entire careers, but he headbangs! To watch him, is to understand the full extent of his passion and become one with his music. Oh, and he tends to drum shirtless... Which really is, quite an experience of its own. (Ok, well, I guess... that was slightly irrelevant.) But I’m not just been a shallow, daft female; watching his facial expressions and thrashing arms really is an immersing experience and (I hope) an insight into Mr. Wood’s personality—which, I would guess, looking at his covers, to be intensely focused, determined and passionate about music, yet light, amiable, outgoing and silly (in a good way o’course!) when he isn’t breaking drumsticks and a sweat! Although it’s hard to imagine what he does, other than make perfect music. Yes, I did use the word ‘perfect’.
Overall, he doesn’t seem to have any fancy technical equipment (like some of the other semi-famous online drummers do), seems humble enough, and isn’t famous enough yet to be obnoxious. He even replies to your comments from time to time! And that is where I get most of my info from... (I obviously have a crush, but I’m not a stalker—all you gotta do is read the top comments *shrugging shoulders*—besides, I had to research Mr. Wood because I was writing about him! I do a quick search on ALL the artists I blog either way).
To make things simpler and a little more serious now, the following are the rankings and ratings of his covers:
1)      Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites by Skrillex 10/10

This was the first cover I had heard from him and still is my favourite. What he does with this track (which is my favourite Skrillex track) is phenomenal. However, I did notice, that it is MUCH better to watch it than just listen to it. His drum additions amplify the ordinary bass kick of the song.
Also, I laugh out loud everytime I watch him lip sync (at exactly 1: 59)-- it's THE climax of the video, especially as it comes right before the POW of his banging on those drums!
Link to Dylan Wood's cover of Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites: http://youtu.be/4dghsMgYFJI

2)      Levels Avicii by (Skrillex Remix) 10/10
And he scores ANOTHER 100%! Haha, just listen to the track and tell me if you agree.
Link to Dylan Wood's Cover of Levels by Levels by Avicii: http://youtu.be/TwkrjO9KY_E

3)      First of the Year (Equinox) by Skrillex 10/10

First of Year (Equinox) by Skrillex is SO STALE compared to Dylan Wood’s cover. No words. He’s done enough for a lifetime with this song. FAR BETTER than the original.
I don’t know why, but I had originally given this song a 9/10. But I thought better of it. So, just don’t be surprised if you do the same.
Link to Dylan Wood's cover of First of Year: http://youtu.be/79ukBRpCqkk

4)      Second and Sebring by Of Mice and Men 9.5/10

Ahhhhhh! So close to 10/10. Why? Perhaps because it isn’t Skrillex so there’s no bass to kick in? Nah... the song choice is impeccable. I had never heard this song before he covered it. So... I guess I’m being a 0.5 bit harsh on him. But with this song, not only did he gain a fan for himself, but also Of Mice and Men.
Also, the original song is stronger on the guitar, but Dylan Wood makes his drumming the focus. Frankly, all he did is add to the song; this time, he didn’t take it to another level. But it was a lovely change to his Skrillex covers! I’m glad for it.
Link to Dylan Wood's cover of Second and Sebring: http://youtu.be/zYgD_ikNupQ

6)      Kyoto by Skrillex ft. Sirah 8.5/10

There are two standards, 1) compared to everything else and the original; 2) compared to one's own phenomenal work. If judged the first way, this would get at least a 9/10. But I felt that it lacked the oomph of Mr. Wood’s usual works. This being said, I guess the purpose of this was to use the (hi-hat) cymbals more than the actual percussion, and I guess I just like the sound of the drums to be more dominant. That is my only justification for giving this cover such an abominably low score. :/ Sorry, guys.
Link to Dylan Wood's cover of Kyoto: http://youtu.be/Ks1kArpMj-o

7)      Black and Yellow by Wiz Khalifa 7.5/10 à revised to 8/10

The first time I saw this cover uploaded, I thought to myself, wow... he’s really attempting to be diverse. The first time I heard it. I gotta be frank. This was a disappointment for me. THEN, I listened to it like a thousand times and realised by listening to it the fifth time, I realised that this was pretty damn amazing!
Once again, Mr. Wood’s additions make the famous Black and Yellow much better than the original by Wiz Khalifa. Thankfully, his drumming didn’t drown out the rapping! Originally being a hip-hop chick myself (before I got all weird and developed one of the most diverse tastes in music), this swallows any other mix Black & Yellow. Even makes the original seem bland. So, unless that’s what you’re going for, you have GOT TO listen to this.
Link for this Dylan Wood's cover of Black and Yellow: http://youtu.be/_HA16VMKegg

8)      Narcissistic Cannibal by Korn featuring Skrillex & Kill the Noise Drum Cover 7/10
Ah... would I be right in saying this is the hardest I’ve seen Dylan Wood hit his drums + cymbals? Maybe. This is another rock cover. The clarity and tone of the song is slightly different, but other than that, THIS IS GENIUS! Once again, according to me, this is makes the original seem drab. Then again, to me, the two seem almost like different songs. Mr. Wood almost seems angry. This is a must watch. This is one of the only covers of his which sound just as good if you’re not watching them, or just listening.

I’ve just been thinking, him and people like Eric Stanley are truly musical geniuses. They must have a certain idea of what they want to add on to tracks and after repeated trial and error, they perfect their techniques and push themselves to create what their ears like to hear. I’d just like to say that whatever Mr. Wood’s ears like to hear, mine do too! And I admire his determination and dedication and much more! And I LOVE his music. I hardly write that about any artist, but I can about his music doubtlessly.
And if you seriously doubt or oppose my judgement, please comment and justify your opinions! I’d seriously like to hear them!
Dylan Wood (as well as young artists like Eric Stanley) is a true inspiration! I might pick up drums myself!
Here's a link to Dylan Wood's channel on Youtube. I didn't want to individually link each of his videos because this is already my longest blog entry and videos in between by writing would have lost your attention: http://www.youtube.com/user/dylanwoodmusic/videos

Eric Stanley

Well, I discovered Eric Stanley more than a year ago—back when he wasn’t as famous as he is now and only had a few covers of mostly mainstream hip-hop, RnB music. He is young a violinist from Chesapeake, Virginia who used to do violin covers for mainstream music and make that (mostly) otherwise intolerable stuff great. In those days, I was absolutely in love with him and his music, thinking he was one of the greatest young musicians I had ever heard (and I had heard only a few, so that must explain it). That wore off after I downloaded his free mix-tape. What’s really sad is that I had a countdown for this mix-tape and was fanatically looking forward to it. As soon as I downloaded it and listened to each song, I realised that his music wasn’t something I could listen to on a stretch. And if I’m being ruthlessly frank, there were tracks that were very dull to listen to intently. I guess, if you like to have music playing in the background while doing some work that requires attention, you should play his mix-tape. His songs aren’t hateable though. Just skip-able.
That being said, there are a few mind-blowers in The Eric Stanley Project (the name of his mix-tape). Those include:
Spotlight by Gucci Mane Violin Cover

Right Above It by Lil Wayne ft. Drake Violin Cover

Bed Intruder Song Violin Cover

The reason why I am including him in my blog is because he justly deserves reviews... because he really is a truly great, young musician who is certainly going places. I think he's recording now... not too sure about that, though. If you hadn’t heard of him, you REALLY should check out his music because I am a listener whose taste is easily changeable. Perhaps I just grew out of Eric Stanley sooner than I thought I would. I still listen to a select few songs from his mix-tape. Those that are linked, will eternally be among my five-star rated music.
Here are other songs you should check out:
Bed Rock by Lil Wayne Violin Cover
Your Love by Nicki Minaj Violin Cover
Telephone by Lady Gaga Violin Cover
Chanpagne Life by Neyo Violin Cover
There are others as well, but here are the main ones!
Please enjoy, comment and have a good day.

Monster Mask by Pomplamoose

I discovered Pomplamoose [which looks a lot like pamplemousse which means grapefruit in French] a while ago. Jack Conte and Nataly Dawn are the two primary members that make up this duo.

Most of their songs are great! This was the first song I had heard of theirs and I fell in love with it. The lyrics were so simple yet thought-provoking and the acoustic music was truly refreshing, after constantly trying to discern the different whirring sound in today’s electronic movement...
They claim on their website, “What you see is what you hear. (No lip-syncing for instruments or voice.) If you hear it, at some point you see it. (No hidden sounds.)” That, obviously makes me respect them even more, because if this is true, it proves that they are genuine artists and musicians!
Here’s the deal, they didn’t write this song. It was actually, originally by Ron Weiner; here is his original version of it. I quite liked it!

You should check out more songs by the duo. The lead singer is releasing her own album soon. Although, I predict it won’t become mainstream anytime soon, I sure think it’ll be worth a buy! I’m definitely looking forward to it.

Deep Deep Trouble by Bart Simpson

I just discovered this hilarious rap by Bart Simpson a few minutes ago and HAD to share it!
This song is SO great.  Who knew Bart could rap? I'm sure there are a lot of teens who'd relate to him and this song.
Also, this isn't from an episode. It's just a song... I don't know how it got released. But I sure am glad it did!

Break Ya Back Timbaland feat. Dev

Oh wow! I can't believe this. Timbaland is doing a song with Dev. It hasn't been fully released yet, but I wanted to be the first one to put it out there!
Enjoy this preview!

Well, it is obvious that Timba is back and I’ve got to say, he’s SO TIGHT in this! Crazy sh*t. I don’t know why I didn’t think of the Timba + Dev combination! They’ve killed it here.
This song is Toxic with a capital T. I haven’t heard too much of Dev but from what I can tell, she may be good at poppin’ bottles in the ice and she may like her bass down low, but she surely can BREAK YA BACKS!
Please take a listen to this new song which, I could bet on my life, WILL be BIG!
And please comment!

Lana Del Rey, a transgender?

I tend not to post songs that are widely known and super popular unless I believe that they’ve been forgotten, but the only reason why I’m posting this is because I had a curious thought.
Here’s Lana del Rey. The first song I heard of hers was Born to Die which I think has one of the most majestic music videos I’ve ever seen in my life. That song will surely live on for ages after her.

Here’s a video of her singing Blue Jeans Live on SNL (and her vocals are terrible) but I think this video helps prove my little observation:

There has been much talk about her pout and whether it is real or not. Now, after listening to this and looking at her appearance, there is no doubt she is absolutely beautiful. However, I think—just speculating here—that she is probably a transgender. Just to be clear, I have nothing against transgenders, I find them fascinating and one of my favourite movies of all time is Transamerica (in which Felicity Huffman—oh, I love her!—plays a transgender). What made me think this way? Overload of makeup (but which other artist doesn’t do that?), super-long maneater nails, just something about the way her hair is done and the deepness of her voice compared to when she is speaking normally (actually, her voice is rather feminine) in interviews.
I haven’t been able to find evidence of this though...  But I’ve not been able to find many childhood pictures of her in which it can be confirmed that it really is her.
Another curious thing about her: I thought she was British, but it turns out she’s from New York. I noticed that many British artists sound American when they sing, but she either has a strange accent or puts it on when she sings... She doesn’t look like your typical American singer either... she has a European look and an accent to accompany.

There’s nothing really more to say except if you haven’t taken a look at Born to Die, you REALLY must:

Birdy

Birdy. Discovered her a few months back.
Ah, Birdy. Her voice is classic, unusual and way too mature for her age. Which is—just to be clear—fifteen. Yes, she is 15 YEARS OLD! That’s even younger than I am! :O
Her real name is Jasmine van den Bogaerde. Her voice is perfect for her retro, just-classic-enough-for-today music. She mostly does covers for Bon Iver and the likes. But she’s released her own self-titled album. She was kind enough to release an album sampler in her Youtube channel:

Frankly, I was shocked when I first heard her and she’s not as inconspicuous as I thought she was either. It seems (this information is from Wikipedia, so it may not be reliable) that she won Open Mic UK (a music competition) in 2008, at the age of 12. Whoa, what a prodigy!
I love her vocal tone and to me it seems as if she isn’t after the fame as much as appreciation for her music. She seems like a very mature, reserved musician and I like that. Well, enjoy her music! I’m eager to see what she comes up with next and follow her career. And I’d like to see how she escalates her fame, if she does.

Elektronik Bossa by Outwork

Remember that song, We No Speak Americano? Well, imagine that, but remixed by a lazy Tiesto or reserved Basshunter. Haha, well, take a listen to Elektronik Bossa by Outwork in the album ALP vs Outwork (2011) and tell me how awful I am at describing music.
I discovered Elektro by Outwork today (thanks to another friend!) and I have to say, Outwork is growing on me. From what I gather, he is an Italian DJ who calls his music ‘Progrsv House / Techno’ on his Myspace page. I think he has managed to blend a good combination of techno with real music:

Another great song is Up and Down, which was released in January 2008. It has gotten more than ten thousand plays on Myspace, but I am sure today’s crowd would LOVE it far more and gobble it up:

Please enjoy this new artist!
And comment and suggest new artists for me to check out and add ;)

For more of this great artist, I’d recommend you check out his Myspace page because Youtube doesn’t seem to have most of his original songs, which, I’m sure, are better than the hundreds of shabby, long and noisy remixes.

Tip of My Tongue by The Civil Wars

Today's songs are 'Tip of My Tongue' and 'Barton Hollow' by the Civil Wars
Ok, so I did discover this song recently (thanks to a friend), and I have to say that it is my favourite at the moment! I’ve heard it around 60 times in two days—now that is dedication!
The Civil Wars are SUCH a great duo. This is the first song I heard of theirs and, as per usual, I think it’s the best one I’ve heard of theirs!
The melody is fluid, molten gold, despite it giving a slightly cold vibe. It is the sound of the simplicity of passionate and true love. It is simple, sweet and short!
There’s nothing more to write except PLEASE listen to it! It is not even 3 minutes long! Please, please listen and love!

Here I was thinking they were one of the underrated stars, when in fact, they have won two Grammys! They are a folk country duo and totally worth a listen. Their songs are like systemised conversations and although they look it, they aren’t actually a couple... Their song ‘Poison and Wine’ was featured in the hit show Grey’s Anatomy and is considered their “breakout song” which even Taylor Swift called “exquisite” and her “favourite duet” and included in her I-Tunes playlist. Their new single, Barton Hollow, is another GREAT song, which is catching on hype!:

Tell me what you think and rate and comment.
Thanks!
P.S.
And here's a little video about them explaining themselves! It's so sweet and perfect:

Ke$ha [Music Review]

Wow. It's been five days since my last post and I've already gotten 18 views. That's really great! Thanks.

Ke$ha [Pronounced Ke-sha, NOT Keysha!]
“I’m in love alright! With my crazy, beautiful life!”
You have to say, you can’t necessarily hate the girl unless you exclusively listen to rock or something.
True: she barely has any talent! [I read somewhere that she got noticed because the mixtape she sent to her producer was incomplete and she didn’t give an F—they 'noticed' her because of her laziness and incapability to continue the song she was sing-rapping!]
BUT she’s so contagious!
When she first came out, I thought she’d be one of those one-hit wonders. TikTok would be her beginning and end, but NOoooo! She went out and released more singles and each one was loved.
Given: Some of her songs were REALLY BAD! But I grew to like them the more I listened to them. E.g. We R Who We R. Also, don’t bother buying her albums [Animal and Cannibal] because if she hasn’t released it as a single, then the song is awful. But there are those occasional good ones that aren’t singles like Harold Song and Grow a Pear [MUST-LISTEN-TO-‘EM! Soooo good!]
Harold Song: in the album Cannibal, you hear a softer, emotional side to Ke$ha as she describes her heart ache and longing for this Harold.

Grow a Pear: this, on the other hand, is an absolutely hilarious song, which, you could say, is typical to Ke$ha.

She is crazy (seriously, what the hell is going on in the Blow music video???) and she has no limits to her absurdity and that’s why I like her. [I find that I'm like her in these aspects.] Her only limitations are the genres she can do, and that’s because she can’t expand due to lack of talent... or vocal range, I guess.

She doesn’t seem to care about anything at all! And admire that in an artist because I’m like that. She is individual and tells things like they are:
Oh, oh, oh! We’re falling in love. Oh, oh, oh! Till the sun’s coming up!
Can you get lyrics that are more real in this fake world?
Also, I admire her style (appearance-wise). Haha! You’d think only she can pull it off, but I’ve taken a few tips. :P
To those who are Ke$ha fans, I like to recommend the following songs: Let Go and I'm the One;
Let Go

They are B-side and sound nothing like the pop-techno thing she does now. They’ve got a nice country feel to them, with the same clear, no cover-up lyrics:
“You’re the one with thighs like windows—nothing you can hide that I don’t know…” MWAHAHHAHAH!~ [from I'm the One]
You may hate me for saying this, but I think she’s the present day Avril Lavigne because her lyrical ability is crap. She rhymes the simplest words, just like Avril [compare the complexity of rhymes in Ke$ha’s lyrics in that awful song “Till the World Ends Remix” to Avril’s “Slipped Away” and you’ll see my point]. And Avril Lavigne back in the day was the voice of the youth. Now Ke$ha tells it like it is. But I will never deny that Lavigne actually had (and has) such great vocal ability that I doubt Ke$ha would ever record songs like I’m With You or Innocence or I Will Be. [Yes, I was a GREAT Avril Lavigne fan back in the day—I have all her officially released songs as well as a good 30 B-side songs.]
Anyway, that’s all from me now on critiquing Ke$ha. Please respond with songs you’d recommend of hers and what you think of her music/Avril Lavigne’s music, etc.!
Thank you for reading!
Sincerely and with great love,
Dangerous Day Dreamer <3 Peace out, Biatch.

Monday, 5 March 2012

As today will be the first time I share my opinions on music, I'd like to share a special song that makes me feel beautiful and empowered!
I think-- AT THE MOMENT-- Flyleaf is the greatest band there is. Obviously, my opinions on music change very frequently, but that is what I feel like right now (and I'm not even Christian!). I'm sure that throughout this blog, I'll be posting several Flyleaf songs. They even have a new album coming out in 2012. I am greatly looking forward to that as well!

The song is 'Treasure' and it is the 12th Track off their momentous second studio album, Memento Mori. The title of the album is a Latin phrase meaning "be mindful of death" or "remember you will die," which, I guess, is perfectly fitting as they are an American Christian Rock Band and many of their songs discuss life and death, religion, Jesus, or 'Yeshua', as He is called in this song, and pain, as well as many other topics.
In this song, just as any other Flyleaf song, Lacey's vocals are phenomenal! They are so raw and deep! Ah, I honestly wish I had better vocabulary to describe them. Just, please, listen to the song and understand my meaning yourself! It REALLY is worth a listen. And may I suggest, CRANKING UP THAT VOLUME LEVEL? This kind of music is best enjoyed LOUD! And what ever long term effect it may have on your ear, well, I personally think it's worth it! This music is audio-gold!

If you liked this, I suggest you listen to 'Circle' and 'Set Apart This Dream' by Flyleaf as well. They're all unique but similar in... an indescribable way.

Hello!

Hello!
Ok, so this is my very first blog post, ever. And I'm super excited!
As this blog is called "Discover Music," it aims to do just that.
In this blog I shall post the best of the best songs-- according to me-- in every genre, as I discover them or uncover some music that I already know.
I'll aim to write at least three entries every week and feature at least one song each week.
Please, oh, PLEASE drop in your comments and suggestions! They will be MOST appreciated!
