Ke$ha [Pronounced Ke-sha, NOT Keysha!]
“I’m in love alright! With my crazy, beautiful life!”
You have to say, you can’t necessarily hate the girl unless you exclusively listen to rock or something.
True: she barely has any talent! [I read somewhere that she got noticed because the mixtape she sent to her producer was incomplete and she didn’t give an F—they 'noticed' her because of her laziness and incapability to continue the song she was sing-rapping!]
BUT she’s so contagious!
When she first came out, I thought she’d be one of those one-hit wonders. TikTok would be her beginning and end, but NOoooo! She went out and released more singles and each one was loved.
Given: Some of her songs were REALLY BAD! But I grew to like them the more I listened to them. E.g. We R Who We R. Also, don’t bother buying her albums [Animal and Cannibal] because if she hasn’t released it as a single, then the song is awful. But there are those occasional good ones that aren’t singles like Harold Song and Grow a Pear [MUST-LISTEN-TO-‘EM! Soooo good!]
Harold Song: in the album Cannibal, you hear a softer, emotional side to Ke$ha as she describes her heart ache and longing for this Harold.
Grow a Pear: this, on the other hand, is an absolutely hilarious song, which, you could say, is typical to Ke$ha.
She is crazy (seriously, what the hell is going on in the Blow music video???) and she has no limits to her absurdity and that’s why I like her. [I find that I'm like her in these aspects.] Her only limitations are the genres she can do, and that’s because she can’t expand due to lack of talent... or vocal range, I guess.
She doesn’t seem to care about anything at all! And admire that in an artist because I’m like that. She is individual and tells things like they are:
“Oh, oh, oh! We’re falling in love. Oh, oh, oh! Till the sun’s coming up!”
Can you get lyrics that are more real in this fake world?
Also, I admire her style (appearance-wise). Haha! You’d think only she can pull it off, but I’ve taken a few tips. :P
To those who are Ke$ha fans, I like to recommend the following songs: Let Go and I'm the One;
Let Go
They are B-side and sound nothing like the pop-techno thing she does now. They’ve got a nice country feel to them, with the same clear, no cover-up lyrics:
“You’re the one with thighs like windows—nothing you can hide that I don’t know…” MWAHAHHAHAH!~ [from I'm the One]
You may hate me for saying this, but I think she’s the present day Avril Lavigne because her lyrical ability is crap. She rhymes the simplest words, just like Avril [compare the complexity of rhymes in Ke$ha’s lyrics in that awful song “Till the World Ends Remix” to Avril’s “Slipped Away” and you’ll see my point]. And Avril Lavigne back in the day was the voice of the youth. Now Ke$ha tells it like it is. But I will never deny that Lavigne actually had (and has) such great vocal ability that I doubt Ke$ha would ever record songs like I’m With You or Innocence or I Will Be. [Yes, I was a GREAT Avril Lavigne fan back in the day—I have all her officially released songs as well as a good 30 B-side songs.]
Anyway, that’s all from me now on critiquing Ke$ha. Please respond with songs you’d recommend of hers and what you think of her music/Avril Lavigne’s music, etc.!
Thank you for reading!
Sincerely and with great love,
Dangerous Day Dreamer <3 Peace out, Biatch.
